The Living Snow Project: using the power of citizen science to study alpine snow ecosystems, by Robin Kodner

The Living Snow Project is a community-supported research initiative that engages the public in snow algae research.

In this talk, Robin Kodner will describe the biology of snow algae, their role in alpine ecosystems, the impacts of climate change on these systems, and our efforts to study them by involving the public as citizen scientists.

Robin Kodner is a Professor of Environmental Science at Western Washington University and a 2024–2025 Fulbright France Scholar at the Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA). Her current Fulbright project aims to expand the Living Snow Project to Europe and beyond, developing new partnerships and systems to extend the program across the Alps in collaboration with French colleagues.
